TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Arthur Schuster, Secretary of the Royal Society
Date12 June 1915
Description'Of the six authors whose papers have been publicly announced for next Thursday (the last meeting) two have already said they are not coming, and Prof Hicks is not very likely to come. Shall I therefore add one or two more to the post card list? What do you say to McLennan (favourable report this morning from Sir J J) on which you might perhaps say a few words as the author may not be here in time; Dalby (favourable report) and Tutton, who asked for the 17th as he will be in town on that day. His paper is not yet accepted, but it was on your table this week with Dr Lees' suggestion of Pope and Miers as referees; and his papers are generally read. He is apt to be very long winded, so if he is put down I had better warn him that it is the last day &c &c. That would give us three additional papers to announce, and there are some others to fall back upon after the issue of the post card. I should be glad to know what you think about this by Monday morning, because the list has to go to the printers then. If you include Tutton I had better defer sending his paper to referees till after Thursday. Things said in the meeting room often help referees who are present.
I shall try and write to you tomorrow on other subjects.'
