Description	'I am afraid I cannot comply offhand with your request for the loan of the blocks of the figures illustrating Sir J J Thomson's Bakerian Lecture of 1915. I should have to get special authorization to do that. Our uniform practive is to instruct our printers to prepare cliches of the original blacks, and send them to other journals desiring to reproduce illustrations. In that case the other journals pay for the preparation of the cliches (electrotypes). The coat is usually about 1/6 a block, and as there are 26 blocks in all in Sir J J Thomson's lecture, the total cost to you would be some £2 (50 francs) for the preparation alone, apart from carriage expenses. I do not know whether you would be willing to incur the expense. At the present moment it is difficult to consult the Secretaries and there will not be a meeting of Council for some time, so that I do not see how I can do otherwise than inform you of all I can do at the present mement, without waiting for special authority from Officers of Council to make an exception in your case. Perhaps you will let me know whether you would wishe to have electros on the above terms, or whether you would prefer that the matter should stand over until it can be specifically considered by the Officers and Council.'
