TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Professor W M Thornton
Date23 July 1915
Description'Your paper on "the reaction between gas and pole in the electrical ignition of gaseous mixtures" has been under consideration by the Physics and Chemistry Committee, but before coming to conclusion with regard to publication I am directed by the Chairman to call your attention to the following remarks:-
"The are several references to conclusions drawn in a previous paper which has been withdrawn, e.g. on pp8, 12, 14. These references should wither be omitted or altered so as to be intelligible without the context of the paper referred to.
It is not clear why in Fig 1 the curves have a sharp point of inflexion at 5% ethane. No observations are given of the current necessary to fire mixtures containing less than 5% of ethane, though it is to be presumed that the curves are drawn through other observed points".'
