TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Messrs Minet, May & Co, 5 Dowgate Hill, EC
Date28 July 1915
Description'We have been informed that the premises at 57 Basinghall Street have passed into the hands of the mortgagees, for whom you are acting; and I am accordingly directed by the Treasurer of the Society to apply to you for ground rent now due and in arrear for three quarters. The tenants or mortgagors applied for a reduction of rent sometime ago, but the Society, not seeing their way to acceding to that proposal, allowed the tenants some grace in the payment of rent. This however has now gone so far as to make it necessary to collect the rents and I shall be glad to receive a cheque for the amount due, which is at the rate of £95 per quarter. The last payment received by the Society was in January last when Messrs Jones, Lang & Co., on behalf of the tenants, paid up the balance of the rent due at Michaelmas.'
