TitleCopy letter from William Bate Hardy, Vice President of the Royal Society to Sir Sydney Olivier
Date4 August 1915
Description'In reply to your letter of July 29th, the Swine Fever Committee of the Royal Society has been informed of the decision of the President of the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries to terminate, at any rate during the present emergency, the investigations with which that Committee was charges.
The Royal Society is in full sympathy with Lord Selborne's wish to lessen the financial commitments of his department, especially in view of the fact that the Board is about to adopt a method of dealing with outbreaks of Swine Fever which promises success.
The report of the field experiments, of which Lord Selborne is good enough to promise us a copy, will be received with the greatest possible interest and submitted to the Swine Fever Committee for their consideration.'
