DescriptionInforms P. J. Wheeldon that he has now ascertained particulars about certain grant applications made to the Society. Professor Cronshaw's application, referred by the Research Council, was granted £100 to enable him to investigate the zoning of peat. This grant was made from a fund placed in the hands of the Council by a benefactor for special researches. An application for a grant of £50 was made by Professor Cronshaw direct to the Government Grant Committee for research on the determination of expansion and other properties of refractory materials at high temperatures. This application was declined.
