Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Sir Alfred Bray Kempe, Treasurer of the Royal Society |
Date | 3 December 1918 |
Description | Informs Sir Alfred Bray Kempe that the Income Tax Collector has been making enquiries about whether tax on salaries was paid by the Royal Society and calculating the income tax due. Notes that the Society salaries have always been paid free of Income Tax, and suggests that this is 'an obvious and barefaced attempt to get the tax twice'. Asks Sir Kempe for his opinion on the matter. |
