TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to JH [James Hopwood] Jeans Esq, FRS, Chairman of the Mathematics Committee
Date30 July 1919
DescriptionAdvises the referee JW [John William] Nicholson, FRS, has reported on the paper 'Equal parallel cylindrical conductors in electrical problems,' by FJW [Francis John Welsh] Whipple. He recommends it for publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society,' despite adverse criticisms, as it is better than other papers already in the 'Proceedings' on the subject by other authors. Suggests paper is shortened as there is no new analysis and its merit is that it 'leads more directly to the neatest formulae expressing the solution (and is valuable in the tables and graphs).' Asks the chairman to advise what further action should be taken.
