TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to CG [Claude Gordon] Douglas Esq, FRS; St Johns College, Oxford
Date1 August 1919
DescriptionAdvises CG [Claude Gordon] Douglas Esq. [FRS] that his paper, co-authored with [JMH] Campbell and [FG] Hobson on the 'Respiratory exchange of man during and after muscular exercise,"has received the following criticism "I would suggest that the description of the effect of lactic acid be slightly altered. The authors are well aware that this acid does not remain free, but combines with sodium bicarbonate. The increased hydrogenion concentration is due to the fact that the same concentration of carbon dioxide produces a greater increase in acidity when the bicarbonate is reduced."Asks CG Douglas to let him know if he will agree to the suggestion, and the paper will be returned for alteration.
