TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to Joseph John Thomson, OM, President of the Royal Society
Date24 October 1919
DescriptionAdvises there is an invitation from the University of Strasburg [Strasbourg] for a representative of the Royal Society to attend the inauguration of the University on 22 November. Says Sir William [Jackson] Pope, FRS, is attending to represent another institution, and he might be approached to also represent the Royal Society, and the Council of the Royal Society could confirm this the following Thursday. Asks if he could also request Sir William Pope to write a short report of the work he has done for the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, as this would 'get us over a difficulty.' This work was under the supervision of a Committee of the Royal Society, and the view of the Department is that the Royal Society is responsible for the publication of the results. Advises a short statement of the results would be sufficient, and an indication when the full results will be published.
