| Description | Advises they are experiencing problems with the trade while attempting to resume the purchase of German periodicals. They do not arrive from the booksellers and the business does not pay them under present conditions. The Royal Society's largest suppliers are Dulau and Co., and when some Italian periodicals arrived, the invoice showed that the Lira had been converted into a shilling. When they protested, the response was that the costs involved made the charge reasonable, with which the Royal Society disagrees, and has cancelled the subscriptions for 1920 without a special order. The list with them was substantial at 70 or 80 series. Another supply therefore needs to be found, perhaps applying to a few large booksellers abroad for their terms of delivering to London. Advises that in regards to 'Enemey Exchanges' the Council of the Royal Society has resolved they should be resumed as before the War, and advises this will take time. . |
