TitleCopy letter from Sir James Hopwood Jeans, FRS, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Dr JWL [James Whitbread Lee] Glaisher, FRS,
Date28 January 1920
DescriptionAdvises he has received a letter from Lt-Colonel Allan Conningham submitting the enclosed specimen page of a table of 'Fundamental congruence-solutions, which the author will pay the costs of printing and publishing [not enclosed]. The full table would be 92 pages similar to the specimen, as well as 17 pages of explanatory text which Sir James Hopwood Jeans, FRS, has not yet see. Advises that the London Mathematical Society's printers estimate a cost of printing fifty copies of £118 without binding. The table was calculated independently by Lt-Colonel Allan Conningham and TG Creak, and then brought into agreement. Asks if the Royal Society should pay the cost of publication, and says that if he thinks it should be printed, a proposal be put to the Council of the Royal Society that a grant should be made from the Government Publication Grant Fund.
