TitleCopy letter from Sir James Hopwood Jeans, FRS, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Professor JW [John William] Nicholson, FRS
Date17 February 1920
DescriptionSays he will bring [John Edensor] Littlewood's [FRS] resignation to the Council of the Royal Society, and leave it to them to decide if they want to nominate someone to take his place. Thinks that the best course of action would be to accept the resignation, nominate someone in his place, and if he is well enough, bring Littlewood back the following year. Advises Professor JW [John William] Nicholson, FRS, that one of the challenges of being a Chairman, as he will find out, is to get a quorum for Committee Meetings, and that will be easier with the Committee at full membership. Asks for any suggestions before Thursdays Council, and says he thinks [Arthur Stanley] Eddington, FRS, would be a good choice.
