TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Drake & Gorham
Date12 April 1892
DescriptionRix has not succeeded in getting any answer from the Treasurer, John Evans, but Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt] thinks the offer too low. Rix thinks the safe course will be to decline the offer if the Messrs are forced to decide today, but it would be better to defer the decision till tomorrows so as to get an answer from the Treasurer. Rix's own impression is that the Treasurer would probably accept but Rix cannot accept on his own account, especially in view of Lord Rayleigh's adverse opinion.
