TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to John Evans, Treasurer, Royal Society
Date27 April 1892
DescriptionWhile Evans was abroad Messrs Drake & Gorham had an offer of £80 for the plant if accepted that afternoon. Rix wired Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt] but he thought this to low a sum, so Rix declined. Drake & Gorham say the plant is very antiquated and £80 is a good offer, the highest they had previously had was £60.

Rix saw Gorham yesterday and asked if the £80 offer was closed, Gorham thought it could be re-opened. If Evans thinks the offer should be accepted Rix asks to know at once.
