DescriptionReferring to Foster's letter of 3 July 1891, and Hooke's answer to the same, the Treasurer of the Royal Society, John Evans, wishes to inform Hooke that the Government Grant Committee have assigned £250 towards the expenses of the enquiry on the vitality of microscopic pathogenic organisms in water, copies of the Report upon which Foster has recently had the honour to transmit to Hooke. The Treasurer would be glad to receive the sum of £250 promised by the County Council , or such portion of the same as may be convenient.
