TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir John Evans
Date5 July 1892
DescriptionThe whitewashing in the basement is a more serious job than Rix imagined as it is quite a horrible state. He is afraid it is too late now that the Council is over, to think of having the whole thing done, and they must wait until next session , but he does not think it will be of use to having any of it done unless Evans can let him spend at least ten pounds which would perhaps do the part just close round the engine, making the floor good and getting rid of the oil. Herewith are 20 cheques mostly post-dated. If Evans will sign these they will carry the Society up till 1 October, and two Scientific Relief [Fund] cheques. Asks to know if Evans will be away and inaccessible longer than 1 October.
