Title | Copy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Professor [Louis Napoleon George] Filon, FRS |
Date | 16 February 1922 |
Description | Refers to the note by [George Barker] Jeffery, 'The rotation of two circular cylinders in a viscous fluid', that Professor [Louis Napoleon George] Filon communicated to the Society. Explains that, owing to its controversial nature, the Committee thought it best to get two reports on it, both of which agreed that Jeffery is right and Mr. Dutt is wrong. However, notes that they both criticized it for not being explicit enough in highlighting how the discontinuity in Dutt's solution arises and for its overly controversial tone. Asks Professor Filon to enquire whether the author would like to address these criticisms before the note is laid before the Committee. |
