TitleCopy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Sir Richard [Tetley] Glazebrook, FRS
Date8 November 1923
DescriptionExplains what happened at the Council meeting regarding the Kelvin Centnary: the Council was informed of Alexander Russell's request to have a meeting of representatives from different societies, and the societies seemed keen. It was proposed that the Electrical Societies do a Kelvin Memorial Lecture, followed by a Soiree or Conversazione, and the Royal Society could probably lends relics of Kelvin's to show at the Soiree. Asks Sir Richard [Tetley] Glazebrook and Mr. F. E. Smith to discuss the matter with representatives and report back to the Council. Also suggests that they do something with the large number of Foreign engineers, especially Americans, who will be in England at the time in connection with the British Empire Exhibition.
