TitleCopy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Prof. [Harold Baily] Dixon, FRS
Date7 February 1924
DescriptionAsks Harold Baily Dixon to report on the enclosed paper 'Gaseous combustion at high pressures' by [William Arthur] Bone and two others [Dudley Maurice Newitt and C. M. Smith] and asks if the paper can be reduced without losing scientific value, as 30 pages is too long for a Proceedings paper unless under special exceptions; handwritten note mentions the option of dividing the papers as well; informs of the decision of the Committee for the paper 'The behaviour of gases in contact with glass surfaces' by D. H. Bangham and F. P. Burt can be condensed down to 7 pages, taking into account the reports of the three referees; suggests Dixon can ask the Committee to reconsider the decision but says it would be a waste of time and that it would not be possible to reprint the articles in full elsewhere, although parts of it can be reprinted as elaborating points once it has been published by the Royal Society.
