TitleCopy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to Prof [Frederick George] Donnan
Date27 March 1924
DescriptionInforms [Frederick George] Donnan of the situation of the 2 papers, 'A note on 'The Electrode Potentials and the Energy of Solvation' and 'The significance of the Electrode Potential' being an answer to the criticism of J.A.V Butler' by [Jaroslav] Heyrovsky. Explains that a previous referee would only support publishing the paper if the criticism of Butler could be met which led to the second paper. Both papers were sent to the same referee who is also adverse to publication, and which the report is included [not enclosed]. In agreement with the Chairman that the Sectional Committee is unlikely to approved the paper for publishing and suggests it be withdrawn, unless the author can give a satisfactory answer to the enclosed criticism.
