TitleCopy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to [Horace] Lamb, Chairman of the Mathematical Committee
Date19 June 1924
DescriptionAsks for Lamb's opinion on the mathematical value of S.C.Mitra's paper. Explains the background that Mitra had sent 3 or 4 papers on hydrodynamical subjects, which were sent back after Taylor found errors in analysis, only for the paper to be resent after the criticism had been met. Jeans fears Mitra had been learning Hydrodynamics at Taylor's expense. Taylor has found no errors in the last paper sent but feels there is one, and that it could be a mathematical one. Jeans asks Lamb to take a look through the paper as it could important in solving a problem.
