DescriptionInforms Major [Walter Scott] Patton that Messrs John Swire and Sons have been asked if they could reduce the passage fare [to China, for the trip to study Kala Azar]. Also discusses banking, informs Patton that the nearest Hong-Kong and Shanghai bank branch is 200 miles from Tsinan and so Patton is better off paying the deposit into the Commercial Bank of Scotland, and assures Patton that other matters mentioned in his letter will be addressed by the Chairman of the Committee.
