TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs H Grevel & Company
Date7 January 1893
DescriptionIn reply to the Messrs letter of yesterday, Rix had not realised that the 16 shillings quoted in Williams & Norgate's list for 'Annali de Matematica' was the price for Foreign countries. However he also finds the price for England, post paid, is 17 shillings and six. The Royal Society is therefore not inclined to pay a pound. Rix thinks £1-5-0 is too much for the 'Archives des Sciences' but at Rix cannot find any clear quotation for post paid price he shall let this pass. The 'Giornale di matematica' however is quoted in the Messrs own catalogue at 16 shillings post paid to any address so that Rix fails to understand why they charge £1. Rix does not wish the Messrs to supply these items at a loss but at the same time is bound by the Society to pay no more than the market price. Encloses invoice for correction and return.
