DescriptionFerraris' letter of the 28th September was laid before the President and Council at their recent meeting and they have appointed George Howard Darwin FRS, Professor of Astronomy and Experimental Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, and Joseph Norman Lockyer FRS, Professor of the Royal College of Science, to represent the Society at the University of Padua on the interesting occasion of the tercentenary of the accession of Galileo Galilei to the chair of mathematics in that University.
