TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to Sir Philip Henry Wodehouse Currie, Foreign Office
Date16 February 1893
DescriptionAdverting to Currie's letter of 28 September and Foster's answer of 14 December 1892, and subsequent correspondence, Mr Albert Taylor, astronomer, and Mr William Shackleton, assistant astronomer, will leave England for Ceara via Pernambuco on 23rd February, and are expected to arrive on 12th March. They have passports but it would be deemed a favour if these would be supplemented with such official credentials as would secure them from having to submit their luggage and instruments to examination, and would enable them to pass free of customs.

A similar application may hereafter be submitted on behalf of the expedition to Senegambia [to observe the eclipse] when the final details of said expedition are arranged.
