TitleCopy letter from Theodore E James, to Professor Harry Govier Seeley, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date16 August 1893
DescriptionJames explains that he was instructed by Herbert Rix, prior to departing for his vacation, to send Seeley copies of the referees remarks on his paper for 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society', and a few lines requesting his attention for the referees' suggestions.

He was only made aware that morning of the communication between Seeley and Mr White on the subject, otherwise he would have explained that during the Royal Society's recess, procedures concerning notification and publication of papers cannot be exactly followed, due to the relative unavailability of the Secretaries.

As Seeley did not mention the suggestions made by the referee, Dr Michael Foster who visited that morning, thought it would be useful to remind him of them, though he doubts that Seeley will have forgotten.
