| Description | Rix explains that he has been reviewing the correspondence received and answered during his absence, and has noticed one from Collins requesting a paper by Archibald Smith. He expresses himself 'vexed' that his clerk, not knowing of Collins' work for the Royal Society, treated him as an ordinary customer, and so Rix now refunds the cheque which he made for the paper. Rix remarks that they would be glad to do 'any little service for you that we can'.
In response to his query about the 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers', he states that the Committee met twice to consider his specimen but that there was some difference of opinion, and so they had to postpone the decision until after the recess. Rix suggests that as the matter is in the hands of the chief secretaries that he will leave any further correspondence on the matter to them. |
