TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to A W Hutton, Librarian, National Liberal Club
Date1 December 1893
DescriptionRix outlines the particulars concerning the election of Dr William Hyde Wollaston as President of the Royal Society; namely that Sir Joseph Banks died on 19 June 1820, and in accordance with the Charter, a new President was immediately elected to hold office until the next Anniversary. Wollaston was appointed on 29 June 1820, and held office until 30 November 1820, on which date Sir Humphrey Davy was appointed. He quotes a passage from Weld's history of the Society relating to the election.

He also states that Captain Frederick Wollaston Hutton was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society on 2 June 1892, without a proposer and seconder, but with the signatures of sixteen men, all of whom are listed.
