TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor William Chandler Roberts-Austen, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date1 December 1893
DescriptionRix notes that the guinea will be returned, as he returns all guineas to those who were not present. He has sent to the Hotel for the cashbox from their safe, and hopes to settle up any outstanding accounts the next day.

He apologises that he did not manage the 'Times' better. He left earlier than the previous year, and was gone before the dinner was ended. Rix noticed that he put in Sir Courtney Boyle's name although he was not present, and was troubled to see that the long list was put in his name, 'which looks absurd'. He states that next year he will prepare the list for them in advance.
