Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr Henry Woodward, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 1 January 1894 |
Description | Rix reports that during a recent visit by Dr Forsyth-Major, he asked about the fate of his application, which was made with a note from Woodward last November. Rix notes that no indication was given that this was an urgent matter, so it was registered for consideration next May, along with other ordinary applications. Forsyth-Major now states that he intended to go abroad much earlier than that.
He asks if Woodward intended it to be considered by the Council with a view to a grant from the Reserve Fund, or whether they were correct to defer it until May. Rix also reminds him that the Government Grant Committee now only meets once a year, since the November meetings have been discontinued.
Rix also notes that he has received from Woodward the inclosed Supplementary Certificate in favour of Dr Hinde, together with the apended letter and document. However, the regulations state that the Supplementary Certificate should be signed by no fewer than six Fellows, but he has sent it back with no signatures.
Rix sends his good wishes for the New Year to Woodward and his family. |
