TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr William Richard Gowers, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date8 January 1894
DescriptionRix explains that the Rev Thomas Smith Turnbull was elected on 17 March 1831 as "President of Caius College, Cambridge; a Gentlemen well versed in various branches of mathematical and natural science", but he cannot say if he distinguished himself as he did not contribute any papers to the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' and his name does not appear in the 'Catalogue of Scientific Memoirs'.

He also thanks Gower for his inquiries concerning the vision of Rix's wife, and states that though she does not find any recent increase 'of the malady', there has been a notable increase in the course of the several years. Her general health is reported as 'excellent'.
