He will try to carry out Foster's wishes with regard to reports, but will refrain from discussing details until Friday morning, and is happy that Foster will be able to give them some time then. Rix encloses present regulations, extracts from Foster's letter to Dyer, and a rough memorandum of new Government Grant Boards. It is plain from the last of these that 'Darwin and Hulke' in his smooth minutes should have been 'Darwin and Carruthers', in spite of Foster's refusal to accept the query in his proof.
Amongst other letters, Rix is also forwarding one from Professor McIntosh. He believes that what he means is that he cannot afford to serve on Board F unless he is allowed to apply for the grant which he suggests. Foster can tell him that under new regulations members of boards are allowed to apply for grants. |
