| Description | Rix reports that they had a young person, Miss Fergusson, call that morning seeking copying work. Miss Chambers was favourably impressed with her, and suggests Miss Moore, at present engaged on copying, be promoted to the more complex work of verifying references and settling queries, and that the new applicant take Miss Moore's place.
He notes that this arrangement would prevent inconvenience and delay caused by Miss Burfield's illness and be a valuable addition to their staff, and help speed the completion of their work. Rix further adds that although Moore is very competent, she is also very young and only gets 10 shillings a week. He suggests that Moore's wage be raised to 12 shillings, and Fergusson, who is younger, receive the same wage as Moore began with. |
