TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr Ephraim Cutter, 120 Broadway, New York, U.S.A.
Date14 March 1894
Description'Sir,
I am glad to inform you that the case made from the Rumford ash by Mr. Tidd and so kindly presented by yourself to the Royal Society, has arrived here quite safely. We intend to put a copy of the Rumford Medal in the case, and then to place the whole among our relics of Sir Isaac Newton and other departed worthies. Be assured of the value which the Royal Society attaches to your very interesting gift. We have also to thank you for the pamphlet by yourself and Dr John Cutter which you have been good enough to inclose.
Believe me, Sir, your obedient servant,
H Rix
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.
