Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Percy Carlyle Gilchrist, Fellow of the Royal Society, 101 Palace Chambers, Westminster |
Date | 7 May 1894 |
Description | In response to Gilchrist's letter of 5 May, he reports that the return of 'Technology Quarterly' was implied in Rix's note of 26 April, of which he incloses a copy in response to Gilchrist's second letter of the 5 May. The receipt Gilchrist gave them was for two books, of which this was one. They have cancelled 'Technology Quarterly', and will keep the receipt on file until the other book until it is returned. They are again sending 'Technology Quarterly' as requested.
With regard to Rix's note of 26 April, he clarifies that the last sentence is to be understood in relation to Gilchrist's of 21 April, so that when he stated "This is all we can do to help your research" he was referring to the books they can locate, but states that if there are books of which he hears elsewhere which he can send from the Royal Society library, they would be happy to do so.
In compliance with Gilchrist's third letter of 5 May, they are also sending the Statutes and last published accounts of the Royal Society to which the Treasurer refers them. |
