TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society
Date9 June 1894
Description'Dear Sir,
The Joule Scholarship Committee (of which you received a summons this morning) was summoned yesterday by Mr James, in my absence, at the instance of Sir Henry Roscoe, because Prof. [Professor Arthur] Schuster will be in town on Monday. I am not clear whether this was regular, as Sir H. [Henry] Roscoe though Secretary of the Fund, is not, I imagine, Secretary of the Committee at the present time; but I suppose you will let the summons stand on the chance of our getting a quorum?
I am, yours truly,
H Rix
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.
