TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor [Walter Noel] Hartley, Fellow of the Royal Society, The Ham, Withyham, near Tunbridge Wells
Date27 July 1894
Description'Dear Prof. Hartley,
The Direct Photo-Engraving Co. (who are to do your figures) tell me that they get the reproductions a trifle sharper if they have the negatives, but that it reverses the spectra. If the spectrum is to be shown in the same order as your original, they have to work from the positives. The specimen plate which you saw was done from the positive. Please decide whether you will have the spectra reversed and get the advantages of additional sharpness, and if so, send us the negatives directly you get back to Dublin. If not, let me know, and then we can begin at once.
I am, yours truly,
H Rix
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.
