TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to J E Watkins, Curator, U.S. National Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, U.S.A.
Date30 July 1894
Description'Dear Sir,
In 1888 you wrote us a letter, under date September 11th asking permission to have a photograph of the original drawing of the Savery engine. Unfortunately, that drawing was misplaced, and we could not at that time lay our hands upon it. This year it has come to light again, and if you still care to have the photograph in question, I will obtain leave of Council to have it photographed provided that you are willing to pay the cost. The letter referred to above was, I believe, addressed to Mr Theodore James, our Clerk, with whom you corresponded.
I am, yours truly,
H Rix
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.
