TitleLetter from S Hammarskiold [on behalf of the Nobel Committee], to Victor F Hess, Mount Vernon, NY
Date12 May 1947
DescriptionUnderstands that Hess has talked to Gosta Nobel about the Nobel Foundation taking action against Swedish authorities to secure an indemnity for [Hess and Loewi's] loss of their Nobel Prize money, to be obtained from the proceeds of the sale of German property in Sweden. Does not think that there is any chance of this being successful - notes that there 'are so many claims from Swedish citizens...who have been deprived of all their property through the effects of the war and many of whom are in utter distress.'
