DescriptionCorrespondence with officials and colleagues re grants for scientific research as distributed by the DSIR and the Royal Society, especially re DSIR grants for Special Researches (Blackett was appointed to the DSIR Advisroy Council in October 1955).

The correspondence mainly reflects Blackett's concern at the dwindling proportion of scientific research funds dsitributed by the Royal Society, and his wish to increase the total amount of government money available for scientific research. Some refer also to his own research plans at Imperial College. Correspondents include: Bertie Blount, Sir Charles Cawley, Patrick Gordon-Walker (Baron Gordon-Walker of Leyton)

Also included: 2 copies of article by Sir Francis Simon in 'The Sunday Times', 7 August 1955, titled 'A Ministry of Science?'
