DescriptionDescriptions of the contents of Royal Society exhibitions (termed conversaziones, or soirees) from the mid-19th century. The events were held usually in May or June of each year. The catalogues contain brief descriptions of displays and their exhibitors, arranged room-by-room, in Burlington House, London. From 1888, the programmes have a distinctive title-page with standard information on the event, venue and date, with the name of the then-Royal Society President and an engraved image of the Royal Society's seal, bearing the coat of arms.
