DescriptionThe first of four volumes containing the manuscript versions of papers published by the Royal Society in volume 146 of Philosophical Transactions in 1856. This volume comprises papers I-IX.

Also includes some original illustrations and figures in drawn in ink in support of the papers.

Missing from this volume is the manuscript for the following paper:
'Some observations on the ova of the salmon, in relation to the distribution of species; in a letter addressed to Charles Darwin, Esq., M. A., V. P. R. S.' by John Davy.
