DescriptionThe first of two volumes containing the manuscript versions of papers published by the Royal Society in volume 153 of Philosophical Transactions in 1863. This volume comprises papers I-XV.

The volume also includes some original illustrations and figures in various media (drawings, watercolours) in support of the papers.

Missing from this volume are manuscripts for the following papers:
'On the relation of radiant heat to aqueous vapour' by John Tyndall; and
'On the distribution of surfaces of the third order into species, in reference to the absence or presence of singular points, and the reality of their lines' by Ludwig Schläfli.
