Description | Plate 28 showing a side view of the seal skull half-resting on a book. The animal, of at least thirty years of age, was shot near the Orkney Islands [Scotland] and the skeleton presented to John Hunter. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Signed and inscribed lower left 'Willm. Clift delineavit 1803. Natural Size'. Royal Society stamp verso. The manuscript for this paper is wanting.
