Many manuscripts for papers published in volume 123 are missing. Manuscripts present from the volume include:
'Experimental researches in electricity.—Third series' by Michael Faraday;
'On the relation which subsists between the nervous and muscular systems in the more perfect animals, and the nature of the influence by which it is maintained' by Alexander Philip Wilson Philip;
'On the nature of sleep' by Alexander Philip Wilson Philip;
'The Bakerian Lecture.—Experimental of laws of magneto-electric induction in different masses of the same metal, and of intensity in different metals' by Samuel Hunter Christie;
'Notice of the remains of the recent volcano in the Mediterranean' by John Davy; and
'On the anatomical and optical structure of the crystalline lenses of animals, particularly that of the cod' by David Brewster.
