The volume includes some original illustrations and figures drawn in ink in support of the papers.

Many manuscripts for papers published in volume 134 are missing. Included in this volume are the following papers:
'On the thermal changes accompanying basic substitutions' by Thomas Andrews;
'A description of an extensive series of the water battery; with an account of some experiments made in order to test the relation of the electrical and the chemical actions which take place before and after completion of the voltaic circuit' by John Peter Gassiot;
'On a general method in analysis' by George Boole;
'Observations on some of the nebulæ' by William Parsons;
'On the comparative anatomy of the thyroid gland' by John Simon; and
'Researches into the structure and development of a newly discovered parasitic animalcule of the human skin—the entozoon folliculorum' by Erasmus Wilson.
