Title | Photograph, Lord Rosse's telescope at Birr Castle, Ireland by [Mary Parsons, Countess of Rosse?] |
Date | [1857] |
Description | The great telescope seen from the south-west, showing the machinery of the second and third galleries. Beside the telescope is a group of six figures including William Parsons, the Earl of Rosse with three ladies and two of his children; Randal Parsons standing and Charles Algernon Parsons seated on the telescope's steps. This view has been pasted onto a supporting card with three other photographic figures from the same plate.
