The painting shows surrounding tissues including the placenta, fallopian tube, and corpus luteum. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Signed and dated lower left 'Franz Bauer del. 1819.' Royal Society stamp verso.

Published in Philosophical Transactions as part of paper titled 'A case of the human fœtus found in the ovarium, of the size it usually acquires at the end of the fourth month' by Augustus Bozzi Granville.
