DescriptionPlates intended for publication in various papers published in volume 140 of Philosophical Transactions. The plates have been removed from their associated manuscripts. Published plates were engraved by the Basire family.

The plates correspond to the following papers:
'On the pelorosaurus; an undescribed gigantic terrestrial reptile whose remains are associated with those of the iguanodon and other saurians in the strata of Tilgate Forest, in Sussex' by Gideon Algernon Mantell; and
'On the structure of the dental tissues of the order Rodentia' by John Tomes.
